Writing has enormous power even when practiced in a foreign language. When you write in a foreign language, you are forced to think more about what you want to say and how you want to express it. The effort is tiring but the result, even if it is not perfect, is always very rewarding.
Most of the time people realize that it is even easier to express feelings in a foreign language, because if you know few alternatives (few words), the sentences you are able to produce are always very direct. This helps to clarify thoughts and make you feel good.
Of course, it would be nice to be able to write to someone, because it is very important to have a person to talk to. We write, after all, when we know that on the other side there is someone reading our words.
